About Go Build Tennessee
Go Build Tennessee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects students and career changers with training programs and job opportunities across Tennessee. The Go Build campaign is designed to educate young people on the value of learning a trade, dispel misconceptions about the construction industry and inspire them to consider a rewarding career in the skilled trades. 

As part of its statewide initiative, Go Build is expanding awareness of Registered Apprenticeship Programs across Tennessee. The Workforce and Outreach Liaison will serve as the organization’s primary field representative, building relationships across the state and creating opportunities to connect with K-12 students, parents, educators, employers, and industry associations to promote careers in the skilled trades and increase apprenticeship participation, helping build Tennessee’s future workforce.

Position Summary
Go Build Tennessee is seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven professional to serve as its statewide Workforce and Outreach Liaison.

The Workforce and Outreach Liaison will independently develop and execute a statewide outreach calendar, coordinating school visits, career fairs, workforce events, employer meetings, and community presentations while serving as Go Build’s primary field representative.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who enjoys meeting new people, speaking to groups, coordinating outreach initiatives, and traveling throughout Tennessee. Success in this role requires initiative, professionalism, strong organizational skills, the ability to independently manage a dynamic schedule, and maintain accurate records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with guidance counselors, career coaches, educators, K-12 school systems, employers, trade associations, industry partners, and other workforce stakeholders throughout Tennessee.
  • Coordinate regular K-12 school visits, classroom presentations, career fairs, workforce development events, chamber presentations, community presentations, industry conferences, and other outreach activities.
  • Educate and assist students, parents, and career changers in exploring Registered Apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Conduct employer outreach through construction trade associations, local chambers of commerce, and other industry networks to increase awareness of Registered Apprenticeship Programs and encourage employer participation.
  • Support the expansion of Registered Apprenticeship Programs within Tennessee’s skilled trades sectors and communicate regularly with Go Build Tennessee leadership and state officials to ensure alignment with statewide workforce development priorities.
  • Assist Go Build Tennessee’s marketing and communications efforts by documenting outreach events, capturing photos and video for social media and promotional use, and serving as a spokesperson for local media interviews during outreach activities, as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and submit monthly reports documenting performance metrics required by Go Build Tennessee, including:
    • K-12 & Education Outreach: K-12 school system engagement by county, school visits, classroom presentations, career fairs, and other youth engagement activities.
    • Community Engagement: Outreach events, speaking engagements, chamber presentations, community presentations, and industry conferences.
    • Employer Engagement: Employers contacted, employer meetings conducted, new employers engaged, employers expressing interest in Registered Apprenticeship Programs

Compensation

  • This is a 1099 independent contractor position compensated through a competitive monthly contractor fee based on experience and qualifications.
  • In addition to a monthly fee, a flat-fee monthly travel stipend will be provided to offset routine mileage and travel expenses. Additional pre-approved travel expenses outside normal regional activities may be reimbursed separately.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working independently, building relationships and serving as a public ambassador. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Knowledge of the skilled trades and construction industry.
  • Experience in workforce development, education or community relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively develop relationships, identify outreach opportunities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking abilities.
  • Experience presenting to groups of varying sizes and audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint), KPI reporting, and social media platforms.
  • The ability to work independently to achieve monthly goals.
  • Established local relationships within Tennessee’s education and business communities will be strongly considered.

Travel Requirements
This position requires regular statewide travel throughout Tennessee, including attendance at K-12 schools, employer meetings, workforce events, conferences, career fairs, and community presentations. Occasional overnight travel and weekend events may be required.

The contractor must maintain:

  • A valid Tennessee driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Automobile insurance meeting Tennessee minimum requirements.
  • The ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • A reliable laptop computer and mobile phone.
